About GranulTek: dehydrated alfalfa production

  • About GranulTek

  • GranulTek is a Russian company that produces dehydrated alfalfa. We make alfalfa pellets and vitamin grass meal (VTM), as well as alfalfa hay and haylage in round bales.

The company was founded in 2021 and works as a full-cycle producer: tillage, sowing, harvesting, drying and pelleting are done by our own team, with our own machinery and equipment. The plant is located in the Kaluga Region, in the Dzerzhinsky District, near Nosykino village.

Our own land and our own production let us take responsibility for feed quality at every stage: from alfalfa seed to finished products in the warehouse. See what exactly we produce in the “Products” section.

Stages of dehydrated alfalfa production

  • Alfalfa is a source of fiber, protein, vitamins and trace elements, which is why it is added to the rations of farm animals as an important feed component.

Alfalfa grass contains the most nutrients at the budding stage, so that is exactly when we cut it.

To preserve these properties we use gentle drying and pelleting. This keeps the quality of freshly cut grass for a long time, and the feed is easy to store and transport.

The whole process of producing dehydrated alfalfa takes a few hours and consists of three main stages, shown in the diagram on the right: cutting, drying, grinding and pressing.

  • Stage 1: cutting alfalfa

    We cut

at the budding stage, when the grass contains the most nutrients

    Stage 2: reducing grass moisture

    We reduce moisture

with a fast air stream at an optimal temperature

Stage 3: grinding and pressing pellets

    We grind and press

preserving nutrients and extending shelf life

Alfalfa processing technology

  • Diagram of processing alfalfa grass into dry feed
  • Alfalfa grass is processed into dry feed in five steps:

    1. Green alfalfa mass is delivered to the production workshop and loaded into the raw-material receiving hopper.
    2. Primary grinding of the green mass.
    3. Drying and secondary grinding to a meal with 14% moisture.
    4. Pressing the grass meal into pellets (pelleting).
    5. Cooling the finished VTM pellets and packing the product.
  • Freshly cut grass is processed quickly, so losses of the valuable properties of alfalfa are minimal.
